How do Bed Bugs Get into Your Home?

Bed bugs are extremely invasive and when they enter your home, they are very difficult to get rid of. Bed bugs can get into your home in several different ways. If you have bed bugs in your home, it’s usually because you were exposed to them outside of your home and they traveled with you back to your home.

Bed bugs will attach themselves to clothes and follow you until they get to a new feeding area. Your kids may get them from being at school, you can get them from staying at a hotel that is infested, and even your pets can bring them into your home.

Since there are so many ways bed bugs can get into your home, it’s important to know what they look like so you can contact a bed bug exterminator as soon as possible.

What do Bed Bugs look like?

Bed bugs are small, flat insects without wings that have 6 legs. These insects feed on blood from other animals or people similar to mosquitos. As with mosquitos, you won’t notice when a bed bug bites you until they are gone and you feel itchy, irritated skin.

Bed bugs can be multiple colors depending on if they have fed recently or not but for the most part, bed bugs are white/clear to dark brown (if they are full of blood). Most bed bugs that you will find in your home won’t grow bigger than  ⅕ inch. This makes it easy for them to hide from the naked eye and burrow themselves in bedding, clothes, or blankets.

We offer two types of treatment for bed bug infestations – chemical treatment and fumigation treatment.

Chemical Treatment

Our chemical treatment involves using insecticide to flush out the infestation. We only use family friendly chemicals to protect your loved ones from more harm. Once we have sprayed your home for bed bugs we will then follow up a couple weeks later to ensure our solution worked and the infestation is gone.

When it comes to chemical treatment the more information you can give our experts about where you’ve seen bed bugs the better. Eliminating the bed bug infestation faster!

Fumigation

Fumigation is the fastest way to get rid of bed bugs. Bed bugs cannot withstand temperatures over 135 degrees. Our professional will use fumigation to heat up your home and exterminate any bed bugs that are in your home.

This process typically takes about 7 hours and requires careful monitoring by our professionals and preparation by the homeowners.

Our chemical treatment is great if the infestation is only in a few rooms. We recommend fumigation if the bed bug infestation is throughout your entire home.
