Have an ant infestation? Sugar and borax can be mixed together to rid you of them. While they are attracted to the sugar, they will be killed by the borax. Make the mixture by taking a one-quart jar and adding equal parts sugar and borax. Sprinkle the mixture along the foundation and baseboards of the home.

Leaks in the water system must be repaired. Humidity attracts pest. Just a tiny drip can be detected by pests far away. Prevent this from attracting pests. Use a little elbow grease to stop the leak, or call in a professional plumber who can do the job for you.

One effective pest control method is the use of electronic pest repellents. They can be plugged in each room and let off a noise that repels rodents. Humans will be able to hear the sound, but the noise will not hurt you. Rodents dislike this sound and will leave.

Get rid of any trees that have fallen down in your garden. You can use the trunk and branches for firewood. This can be used in your home, but if you don’t want to use it, then sell or give it away. Don’t neglect the stump though. Basically, stumps are simply lifeless pieces of wood that attract termites.

Is your home invaded by rodents? Inspect the outside of your home and look for cracks and holes through which rodents could come in. If you notice cracks, then fill them with scouring pads or put poison in them. A lot of times you can use odors to keep them away.

Rodents can sometimes enter a camper or trailer that you have parked outside during the winter. Natural repellents exist that can keep them at bay, however. When you get small bags filled with the repellents, they are pleasant smelling and will not poison. They are going to just stop mice from getting into your camper or RV.

Do not use rat or mouse poison if you have pets in your home. A dog or cat can easily ingest poisons that are on these rodents if they should happen to catch one. You should also avoid these poisons if you have small children. They can think that the poison is candy.

When you get home from the store, transfer your dry foods into containers with tight lids. By using plastic containers, you can prevent pests and keep food fresh longer.

If bugs are an issue, use caulk to seal your cracks. Bugs like to hide and live behind cabinets and inside walls, but foggers and sprays don’t reach there. Use caulk to seal up the places where bugs favor entering.

When you have flying bugs inside your home, use hairspray to kill them. If you don’t have hairspray available, try perfume. Both products are reported as flammable. This is a good alternative if you do not have any bug spray.

When you get rid of clutter, you get rid of bugs. Many surfaces in our homes, such as countertops, tables and bookshelves, tend to collect clutter. Declutter these areas and you can eliminate many places in which pests like to hide.
